Global Supply Chain Analysis and Strategy
Dell's Global Operations organization is creating a new team to provide external context to enable an advantaged segmented supply chain portfolio. This team will be global in previous experience, composition, and scope. It will interact with all levels of the organization. It will look across all functions of the supply chain, across all customers, and across all geographies. The team will have diverse backgrounds, including professionals with key skills from outside supply chain.
The team will be responsible for:
- Reviewing a large body of external information such as academic papers, financial statements, regulatory trends, macro-economic trends, supply chain technology trends, supply chain best practices across all industries, customer feedback, and competitive press
- Understanding the short and long term business strategies within Dell
- Distilling the internal and external information into key concepts that Dell's Supply Chain leaders use to continually enhance Dell's supply chain
- Effectively documenting and communicating the concepts throughout the organization
Each member of the team will be assigned the following based on his/her background, skills, and interest
- As trusted advisor for a set of Dell leaders
- As the contact point for a set of external supply chain advisors
- As the lead for a particular region of the world
- As the lead for information on specific competitors and customers
- As the lead on particular topics or trends (i.e. Emerging Markets, Green Supply Chains, Supply Chain Planning, RFID, Retail supply chains, Telecom supply chains, etc)
- As the coordinator for a set of deliverables (i.e. white papers, strategy sessions, news summaries, etc)

- Bachelor's degree >5 years work experience
Specialties and Experience (any of the below is a plus, not all are required)
- Supply Chain experience (product design, procurement and sourcing, forecasting, capacity planning, demand shaping, manufacturing, logistics and fulfillment, trade compliance, supplier management, returns/reverse logistics)
- Consulting experience
- Technical writing experience
- Facilitation of brainstorming
- Knowledge management experience
- Data driven benchmarking
- Analysis of financial statements
- Primary customer research
- Project Management
- Creating new processes and organizational capabilities
- Telecom or Retail supply chain experience
- Messaging, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism experience
- MBA, Masters in Supply Chain related field
